Yorktown Orchestras

Bulletin 29 Nov 2011

 

Dear Parents and Guardians

 

I am writing to remind you of the Winter Concert on 6 Dec 2011, at 7:00 PM in the YHS Auditorium.

 

The Chamber Orchestra will be performing Corelli’s Concerto Grosso Op. 6 No. 8 ‘fatto per la notte di natale’, Haydn’s Symphony No. 26 ‘Lamentatione. Weihnachtssymphonie’, and Howard Hanson’s Variations on Two Ancient Hymns. The Fourth Period Orchestra will perform Vivaldi’s Concerto for Strings in D Major, RV 121.

 

We are particularly proud of the students’ accomplishment in preparing this program which consists entirely of works by great composers in their original versions.

 

There will be a required after-school rehearsal on 5 Dec 2011, from 3:15 to 4:30 PM. If there is a valid reason why your student is unable to attend, please notify me by letter or email before the day of the rehearsal.

 

On the 6th the Orchestra will need to report to me at 6:15 PM in the Auditorium, for warm-up and final rehearsal.

 

The concert dress will be as usual: All Black for the Ladies (No Short Skirts) and Tuxedos for the Gentlemen. No trainers or athletic shoes of any kind.
